Giving to SLIS

Since the first classes at the Wisconsin Library School more than 100 years ago, the School of Library and Information Studies has counted on alumni and friends to help us fulfill our educational missions. SLIS welcomes the many ways in which alumni give to the School: through their time and their talents, and their gifts.

How SLIS gifts are used:

  • Scholarships and fellowships. Help bridge the funding gap for students. The 2008-2009 tuition for a full-time Wisconsin resident is now about $10,025 per year; for a Minnesota resident, about $11,340; for a non-resident, about $25,000.
  • Student travel support. Defrays costs for SLIS students to attend and participate in professional conferences and meetings.
  • Faculty research and curriculum support. Enables faculty to pursue research or retooling of the curriculum to help SLIS keep pace with our rapidly changing field. SLIS uses flexible research funds to attract and retain high quality faculty.
  • Facilities upgrades.  Ensures that SLIS facilities stay up to date and supports purchase of new materials and equipment.
