Field Placement/Practicum Requirement Allied Drive Storytime

SLIS partners with libraries, archives and information agencies at UW-Madison, the Wisconsin Historical Society, Wisconsin Public Library Systems, the Madison Metropolitan School District and local corporations and non-profit agencies to provide a supervised practicum or field project for all master’s students.

A 120-hour practicum is required for all students.

SLIS students in the on-campus MA program have two ways to fulfill their field placement or practicum requirement (see note):

(1) Field Project in Library and Information Agencies: LIS 620 or C&I 620

(2) Field Project in Library and Information Literacy Instruction: LIS 826

[If you began the MA program before Fall 2012, please consult with your advisor]

Students in the on-campus program with questions about the practicum requirement should contact Dr. Allison Kaplan.

Questions about the practicum requirement for distance students should be directed to Debra Shapiro, Coordinator of the distance program.
