Personnel Management for Libraries

In almost every library, personnel costs make up the largest part of the budget, and the quality of your library's service is determined in large part by the quality of its staff. This course offers a foundation for successful management of this most valuable asset.

  • Legal issues in hiring and employment

Expectations:

Participants are required to read assigned weekly material. They must participate actively in online discussions by posting at least twice a week. (The posts must respond to the week's material, as well as to the posts of classmates.) Finally, two short written assignments must be completed.

Your instructor:

Cheryl Becker has more than 30 years experience in public and academic libraries of various sizes in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She is currently the public library administration consultant at the South Central Library System, headquartered in Madison, WI.
